It’s November (or Movember, whichever you prefer), which means that there’s another Call of Duty out – this time it is Treyarch’s Black Ops II.
I always get a giddy feeling inside when I think of this time of year – Call of Duty Season. It’s something to look forward to in an otherwise dreary month, something to get excited about, and it binds gamers together. All the hype, the excess, the spectacle that is Call of Duty culminates today.
How many copies will be sold? How many billions of dollars will be made? Will the Call of Duty franchise maintain the same old formula, or break out of the old FPS conventions it helped create or try something new? Can Call of Duty be innovative again?
